LED plant growth lights analysis of greenhouse cultivation technology
With the gradual expansion of LED lighting applications, more and more industry players are paying attention to the business opportunities of LED bio-lighting; how to provide effective lighting for greenhouses has become the key to supporting greenhouse production and increasing revenue.LED replaces traditional high pressure sodium lamps to effectively help plants grow. In terms of yield, greenhouse cultivation will still be affected by limited light even under conditions such as moderate temperature and sufficient nutrients and water. At present, supplementary lighting methods are commonly used in greenhouse cultivation, such as traditional high-pressure sodium lamps, which are not the most effective light sources for plant growth, so other alternative lighting is actively sought. The study pointed out that the wavelength of light required for plant photosynthesis is around 400nm to 700nm, especially in the blue and red regions, which are closest to the efficiency curve of plant photosynthesis.Growers can use LED plant growth lights to combine specific wavelengths of light according to their needs and convert the light into photosynthetically active radiation. Not only does it improve plant yields, it also controls wavelengths that are ineffective for plant growth. In addition, relevant experiments are also carried out to test whether LED lights can reduce the lighting cost of greenhouse cultivation. Red and blue LEDs 5:1 perform best. Red LEDs increase plant matter.
Scientists took hydroponic cultivation of tomatoes as the test object, and conducted a 120-day test with three red and blue LED light ratios and three light intensities respectively, and compared with several other supplementary light methods, including 100% high pressure sodium lamp, 100% red light Light LED light, high pressure sodium light and red light LED light half and half, and no fill light, etc.The results showed that the five lighting methods with the most fruit yields were the red-blue LED ratio of 5:1 high light intensity, 5:1 medium light intensity, 5:1 low light intensity, 19:1 high light intensity, and 100% LED lighting. The use of LED lighting to assist plant growth is much more ideal than high-pressure sodium lamps, which also means that it is an improved lighting method for greenhouse cultivation. On the other hand, the experimental results also showed that high light intensity increased plant growth matter and fruit yield; 19:1 ratio produced the most plant matter, and 5:1 increased fruit yield. McGill University researchers pointed out that increasing the number of red LED lights can increase plant matter, while fruit yields are slightly reduced. Therefore, LED plant lights are considered to be a very helpful method by relevant researchers in enhancing the artificial lighting system of greenhouses.
