How to choose a good eye protection lamp?

Aug 05, 2021

丨Illuminance & Illumination Uniformity

Illumination can be simply understood as whether the lamp is bright enough; the uniformity of illuminance is whether the light is uniform enough.

Long-term reading and writing under dim light or under a desk lamp with insufficient illumination can easily lead to visual fatigue and, in severe cases, myopia.

China's national standard GB/T 9473-2008 "Performance Requirements for Reading and Writing Table Lamps" sets forth requirements for the illuminance and uniformity of illuminance of table lamps. The technical specifications of CQC stipulate two illuminance levels on the basis of national standards: Class A and AA level.

Class A: The illuminance should reach 150 lux within 50cm from the light core area, and at least 250 lux within 30cm from the light core area. If you need to work under a desk lamp for a long time, it is recommended to choose a desk lamp with a high level of illumination.

Parents can refer to the illuminance level indicated on the product when purchasing a lamp, or choose a lamp with CQC logo.

In addition, when children use the reading lamp, not only turn on the desk lamp, but also turn on other light sources in the room as a backlight, so as not to cause an obvious difference between light and dark in the room.

丨Glare

Glare, which refers to the glare of the light, is an important indicator for evaluating the performance of a desk lamp. As the light source itself, the higher the brightness, the more obvious the glare; the closer the light source is to the line of sight, the more obvious the glare.

How can I avoid glare?

Children sitting in the normal reading position and looking towards the lamp should not see the inner wall of the transmitter and the light source; secondly, parents can consider using lamps with shading accessories, such as setting lenses, grilles and other anti-glare measures to increase the cut-off of the lamps. Light angle, reduce glare.

Do not directly use exposed bulbs to avoid direct light. In addition, you should also pay attention when choosing the desktop material. Try not to choose a glossy desktop, which will reflect the brightness of the lamps, ceilings and walls and produce reflective glare.
